Quick Adhesive & Goo Remover – that’s natural.

December 28th 2011 in News & Updates

The secret ingredient that is naturally made and user friendly to hands to remove goo and adhesive that is available from most supermarkets is…..

It’s eucalyptus oil.

It’s a natural oil from the Eucalyptus tree and has a pleasant smell and works very well. We recommend this as some adhesive chemicals can affect people’s hands and has cause allergic re-actions.

The great thing about eucalyptus oil is that it can be used on virtually all surfaces without damaging the surface.

If you are after a stronger, man made chemical, the alternative is Citrus Degreaser. It’s works similar to Eucalyptus oil, though you need to check the surface first as Citrus Degreaser can damage surfaces such as plastic. You also need to check it’s use on your hands, as some people have allergic reactions to Citrus Degreasers

If you are removing left over adhesive and putting on a new sticker, remember to thoroughly clean the surface with soapy water. If you leave any Eucalyptus or Citrus degreaser on the surface, the new decal will not stick properly.

FYI – if you use a Wonder Wheel to remove a decal, it will take away alot of the adhesive as strips away the decal and at the sametime, strips away alot of the adhesive

We are really here to help people with making the job of removing stickers, decals or vinyl lettering easy. If you would like further information about Decal removal or order a Wonder Product, visit www.decalstickerremover.com (order form at the bottom of the page)

The Top 5 ways to take off Decals and Stickers

December 19th 2011 in News & Updates

We thought you would like to know the Blue Print to Removing Decals and Stickers… well here it is.

There are many approaches to removing Decals and Stickers. Some are fast that make the job easy and some take a long time and frustrating

Today we will go through all the approaches and outline what works the best…

Before we start, our goal at www.decalstickerremover.com is to try and solve our customers Decal problems so if you have any questions about removing decals, stickers or adhesive, please let us know so we can help – peter@pacificwebb.com.au

The 5 tools to remove Decals are:

1)     Metal razor blades – be careful with your fingers

2)     Wonder Wheel – by far the best best tool we have used

3)     Adhesive removers – good for cleaning up the surface once the decal has been removed

4)     Heat gun – does works, though not on old Decals

5)     Plastic razor blades – great for small areas

1)     Metal razor blades

Metal razor blades should NEVER be used on painted surfaces. There is a strong chance that you will scratch the painted surface and that leads to alot of other issues – respraying a painted surface can be very expensive.

Using a metal razor blade should be strictly limited to glass areas. To remove small shop window stickers, you could use a metal blade, though only if it has a case holder for the blade.

If you are using a metal blade without a case holder to protect your fingers, it is very easy to cut yourself. (and if you have employees, there is the potential for litigation against you)

I would stay away from Metal blades in general, mainly due to the risk of cutting yourself and it’s limited use to glass surfaces

2)     Wonder Wheel

The fastest way to remove decals, especially for large old baked on Decals, is with the Wonder Wheel.

It’s work by wearing away the decal so  it quickly strips the decal off the surface – hence why it’s so fast. As its made of soft rubber, it does not affect the surface and can be used on painted surfaces (if using on plastic, always test on a small area first)

The Wonder Wheel is definitely the fastest way to remove large and very old decals. It is the stand-out product in the market place for removing decals quickly and easily

The bonus of using the Wonder Wheel is that it also takes off most of the adhesive aswell. It’s like a 2 in 1 product – removes the Decal and most of the adhesive

The best way to see how the Wonder Wheel works is via a video demonstration

Wonder Wheel

3)     Adhesive removers

Adhesive removers are great for removing the goo or adhesive that is sometimes left on the surface once a decal has been removed. However, adhesive removals do not work very well at removing the actual decal.

The reason adhesive removers struggle to remove the decal, is that it can’t penetrate the decal to break down the adhesive that bonds the Decal to the surface.

We recommend adhesive removers to clean up the surface once the Decal has been removed. It works very well and removing any adhesive or goo left on the surface.

There are two options when it comes to using an adhesive remover. A natural made or man made (chemical) products. We find the man made products work slightly better, though have the negative drawback, that some people have an allergic reaction to them. Anyway, we will let you choose.

1)     Natural product: Eucalyptus oil, a great hand friendly product with a pleasant smell that is available from most supermarkets. Easy to apply and no issues with allergic reactions with the hands

2)     Man made product: Citrus degreaser, a stronger product, though some people have an allergic re-action (red or rash on hands) due to the stronger chemical make up of the product.

Both of the above work well at removing goo once a decal has been removed

Citrus Degreaser                                    Eucalyptus Oil

Eucalyptus Oil

4)     Heat gun

The heat gun works by raising the surface temperature and dissolving the adhesive that sometimes allows for the Decal to be removed. It turns the adhesive into a goo like texture and means the decal can be attempted to be removed.

The heat gun works better for newer decals, though once a decals gets over 1 or 2 years old, the adhesive molecular structure changes. The change means the adhesive binds to the decal so the heat gun doesn’t work very well.

If you use the Heat gun to remove a newer decal, make sure you have an adhesive remover as the Heat gun does mean goo is left on the surface.

Note: never use the Heat gun on plastic surfaces as can melt the plastic or distort the shape

Heat gun

5)     Plastic razor blades

Now this may sound like a strange product, though Plastic razor blades do exist. They have an edge like a metal razor blades, though as made of plastic. tt won’t scratch the surface or cut your hands – brilliant invention

Now plastic razor blades are great for small areas or tight areas where Decals need to be removed. Examples are car registrations, boat decals, stickers on motorcycle gas tanks, helmets and even food packaging.

The way the plastic razor blade works, is by getting underneath the edge of the decal and peeling it off. It really saves your fingernails and trying to pick off a decal with fingernails just doesn’t work

(See video footage of a Plastic Wonder blade working)

From our experience and feedback, the Wonder Wheel is the clear winner in being the fastest and easier way to remove decals and stickers.

“Peter
Man, the two came in today and i wasted no time hooking the first unit up to the drill. I’ll say this, i removed 60% of the decal in about 30 minutes.

The darn thing was amazing. I’ll finish up tomorrow. Another thing, i was a little worried about what it would do to the paint, but there as absolutely no damage whatsoever, and it actually gave it a little big of a shine – really.

Hey, the paint shop was going to charge me about $250 labor. I’ll have it done in less than an hour for $50. Glad i found you online Peter. Thanks.

ps – i rarely send these types of positive emails, but this thing is that darn good. Later”

My Family Stickers – the craze taking over Australia

October 26th 2011 in News & Updates

My family stickers have taken off in Australia.

What are they?

They are the family stick figures people have put on the back of their car to show who and how many people are in there family.
Since April 2010, over 2 million have been sold and they are now looking to export this Aussie idea to 6 countries.

The good news is that when it comes to removing the My Family Stickers, is the Wonder Blade is the perfect tool to be used to remove the Family Stickers. It won’t damage the surface and works like a treat.

Extreme use of Decals on Malaysian public property

October 26th 2011 in News & Updates

I recently had an enquiry about an issue in Malaysia where Decals and stickers are stuck on public property.

The stickers are advertisements by loan sharks to offer loans to people. The local councils are trying to find a solution to this problem. They are looking at:

a) how to remove the decals
b) how to stop the decals being put back on the property once removed

We are 100% confident that the Wonder Wheel is the fastest way to remove these decals from the public property such as street signs, phone booths and other public property.

The question about how to stop the decals being re-applied, is where we don’t have a solution yet.

If you have any idea’s about how to the stop the decals being stuck by on once they are removed, please let me know….. even if your idea is outside of using solvents or other substances to stop decals being re-applied (maybe they need 24 hour security to protect the Malaysian public property from decal vandals….. or maybe that’s a step to far).

Love to hear your thoughts (peter@pacificwebb.com.au)

Retail therapy – well… example of a customer saving time in removing retail shop window decals

September 22nd 2011 in News & Updates

I started using the Wonder Wheel as previously spent too much time scraping and peeling crusty, sticky decals and stickers (from my retail shop and car). I have scraped advertising stickers and banners off my car in the past with a knife and blade, constantly worrying if I would damage the paint or scratch the window. The chore was tedious and the results were disappointing.

Ending the task off by scrubbing with Windex and or Goo remover only got an average result, after all of the effort and time involved. However, this has changed now that I use the Wonder wheel.

I also manage a retail store and the time involved in removing various decals from the front window can generally range from minutes to hours depending on the type of decal. Since I purchased the Wonder Wheel and Blade the decals easily come off. This product works.

Citrus degreaser – use it to remove any left over goo or adhesive

September 17th 2011 in News & Updates

Below is an email I received from Jim who thought the Wonder Wheel was a “Great Product!”. In his situation, the decal sticker had been on the car for 21 years and was asking how to remove the goo left over (usually the Wonder Wheel removes the goo, but if its 21 years old, then it can be hard to get off).

I replied to Jim and recommended he use a citrus degreaser that you can get from a local hardware or sometimes supermarket. These are usually more powerful than the standard goo remover…. just check the labelling before using that the citrus degreaser can be used on painted surfaces – 99% of the time it’s fine

*** email from Jim ***
Hi, Peter. Wheels arrived today. Worked like a charm. 21 years of desert sun did it work. I think the decal is off but the underlying glue is a beast. Any suggestions as hpw to get it off without taking the paint? Goof-Off? Bug and tar remover? Hammer and chissel? I have matching replacement decals so maybe it doesn’t really matter?

Great product!

Jim

All the best

Removing decals – Sun baked pick-up truck (customer review)

Hello Peter

Received your products today & got straight to work on removing an old crusty decal from my well looked-after utility.
I just had to say how good the wheel worked removing the sun baked 10 year old sizable decals on both sides of the car.
At first I was a bit wary about hurting the paint work, but they came off fine and after with a bit of elbow grease, a rag & some old citrus based goo remover
the old ute came up great – no problems. I would think that this has saved me money & time on getting a local panel beater to do the job. All I had to do was supply the drill, safety glasses & minimal effort.
Thankyou Sir & your rubbery Wonder wheel!
I can’t wait to use it on my boat the next time the rego number need replacing.

PS I used the plastic blade on some old window glass stickers on the ute & they just pealed straight off – another good product.

All the best.
Thanks again.

How to remove decals from snowmobiles… its easy

February 11th 2011 in News & Updates

Living in a hot climate country, I have never ridden a snowmobile (… I have only been to the snow 5 times in my life). That doesn’t mean I don’t get asked questions about removing decals (stickers) from snowmobiles.

So if the snowmobile has a metal or aluminium petrol tank (assuming that is the area where the decal needs to be removed) and the paint job is factory finish, then we can recommend the Wonder Wheel. This will wear away the decal and make the job very easy.

Note: if you want to remove a decal from a surface that is made of plastic, I would recommend the Wonder Blade.

As the Wonder Wheel wears away the decal, it’s possible to leave a slight mark on the plastic surface. Hence we recommend the Wonder Blade for plastic or small areas. The Wonder Blade is made of plastic so won’t scratch or damage the surface

A video demonstration of the Wonder Wheel in action can be found at www.decalstickerremover.com

Enjoy the snow

(Caution: we strongly recommend against using metal razor blades on plastic or painted surfaces as can easily damage the surface. Not to mention being dangerous in terms of cutting yourself)

How to remove decals from Vehicles…

February 10th 2011 in News & Updates

The most common question I get asked is “How do I remove decal from my vehicle” and that can be a car, truck, bus, SUW, 4WD and anything with 4 wheels.

My answer: “Depends on the decal”.

For any small decals that are stuck on glass, I recommend the Wonder Blade. It’s safe, easy to use (as it’s made of plastic) and does not require a drill. The downside is that it’s only good for small area’s

For large decals or any decal that have been baked on by the sun (including smaller decals), then I recommend the Wonder Wheel. It connects to any standard drill and is the best tool I have used for removing old and large decals.

The reason it works so well is due to it wearing away the decal, rather than trying to peel it off. Baked on decals usually can’t be peeled off as the adhesive has fused to the surface. Hence products that wear away the decal work the best on old decals.

"I’ve found that nothing removes old registration stickers from your car windscreen like the Wonder blade. It’s a very handy little tool to keep around the house and garage”

The story of how this secret weapon to removing Decals began, is that we just started trialling different ideas. We kept trialling and trialling until we found something that worked... and worked really well
